The new building of the Centre for Cardiovascular and Transplant Surgery (CKTCH) on the grounds of Brno University Hospital in Bohunice was officially opened on 15 September 2026. IMOS Brno participated in its construction as a member of the consortium of contractors.
The construction of the new CKTCH building began in 2024 and has now been successfully completed. The modern facility expands capacity for specialised cardiovascular and transplant care and provides patients and healthcare professionals with new, high-quality facilities.
The new centre has 125 new beds and 5 operating theatres. The building also features modern clinical units and technical facilities that meet current requirements for state-of-the-art healthcare.
The building has been designed with a focus on energy efficiency. For heating and cooling, for example, it utilises geothermal boreholes and heat pumps, whilst a photovoltaic power plant has been installed on the roof.
The new facilities began serving patients already on 1 September 2026. Today’s grand opening thus symbolically marked the culmination of a major construction project that will provide upgraded conditions for the care of patients from Brno and the entire region.
