We have commenced work on the new Emergency Department at Znojmo Hospital

07. 09. 2026

Construction of the new Emergency Department at Znojmo Hospital began on 4 September with a symbolic foundation stone-laying ceremony. The contractor for the project is IMOS Brno, a.s., acting as the lead partner and project manager within a consortium of companies.

The new Emergency Department will be located on the ground floor of the hospital’s main building, in the premises formerly occupied by the rehabilitation department, and will offer almost 960 m² of new space. The layout will include five outpatient clinics – internal medicine, surgery, neurology, ENT and paediatrics – as well as a high-threshold area with five examination cubicles, including a resuscitation and isolation cubicle, and seven fully monitored observation beds.

The project provides for a direct connection to the radiology department with a skiagraph and CT scanner, a new patient lift linking the Emergency Department with the anaesthesia and resuscitation unit on the second floor, and access to the helipad. The building works also include the refurbishment of the technical infrastructure in the relevant part of the building, including new distribution systems for technical equipment, ventilation and cooling, electrical fire alarm system, measurement and control systems, and pneumatic tube systems. The traffic in the vicinity of the hospital will also be modified.

A major challenge in carrying out the project is that construction will take place whilst the hospital remains fully operational. The building works will proceed whilst healthcare services continue to be provided, and other departments remain in operation. Completion of the project is scheduled in approximately 18 months.

The construction of the Emergency Department in Znojmo is one of three such projects that IMOS Brno has recently started. In addition to its long-standing experience in the construction of healthcare facilities, the company is currently working on three separate projects of this type.
