Field trip by students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Brno University of Technology to the Pozořice Primary School construction site

On 18 March 2026, a specialist trip was organised for final-year bachelor’s degree students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Brno University of Technology to the construction site of the project Extension and Modernisation of the Primary School in Pozořice, focusing on the current phase of the project’s implementation.

During the visit, the students were introduced to the primary school extension project, which is connected with the existing building in terms of operation, layout and volume. The project also includes the construction of a new gymnasium situated in the school garden. The architectural and structural design is based on the requirements of simplicity, cost-effectiveness and efficient implementation.

The project takes place out in two phases:

Phase A (SO04–SO06): an extension connecting the existing school building, the canteen and the gym. The building is currently at the stage of constructing vertical structures of the 3rd floor (4 floors in total). For building SO06, the load-bearing structure has been completed; work on the roof and the installation of internal distribution lines is underway. The topping-out date is expected at the turn of April/May 2026.

Phase C (SO08): sports hall with facilities. The load-bearing structure, including the roof layers, has been completed, and building envelope of lightweight façade panels is being installed in conjunction with the glazed light perimeter envelope. Installation of the internal building services is currently underway. Completion of this phase is scheduled for 04/ 2026, to be followed by finishing works (plastering, flooring).

Benefits of the site visit

The site visit focused on presenting the actual construction process, including related technologies and the coordination of individual professions. Students had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the practical execution of structures and the organisation of construction works in the context of an ongoing project.
